Welcome to hanawiti forest, a popular location for adventurous backpackers. Pitch a tent and stay the night in our lush and beautiful backyard. Enjoy the wildlife, enjoy the scenery and have an eye out for Mr. Wilson. Just make sure you don’t get caught in a rainstorm.
WARNING: Don’t feed the wildlife and don’t pack any meat.
Gameplay:
Sit in your tent with your trusty flashlight in the calm rain and just relax. Just be warned If you look for trouble you might find it.
Pressing letters and numbers on the keyboard seems to do something, I just haven't figured it out yet...
Be sure to play to the end for the full experience. (Yes there is an ending)
Theme: Light and Dark
Suspicious Downpour fits Game Jam Aotearoa 2021's Theme in multiple ways:
- You use a flashlight as a light in the darkness of a forest
- The tent and forest locations can be seen as the light (safe / cozy) and the forest is the dark (scary / uncertain)
- The contrast between the experience perceived and the final result.

Download, extract and then run SuspiciousDownpour.exe
If you are experiencing any FPS issues you can adjust the graphics settings in the pause menu once you get ingame.
Jam Edition
Download, extract and then run GJA21.exe
If you are experiencing any FPS issues try pressing F11 to swap to windowed mode, then resize the window to be smaller.

Found this game through Tik Tok and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of this! The build up was definitely tense and creepy. Love these types of games! Good job!
That's what I call a good horror game.
One of the first things I did on the keyboard was accidentally learn how to play Rick Astley.
Amazing game, will definitely play again.
A wonderfully creepy environment with a surprise twist. Had me in stitches :D. Game starts at 10:53.

Was a super simple, yet in depth game at the same time! It looked and sounded fantastic! The darkness and light were really well divided yet worked together well; the rain sounds were really comforting in a way and was something one can just keep on their screen and really take in for a long time! It was super funny at the end, but the transition from that to the game again was well done. Overall, it's a good game for the fun of it but also good for it's ambience that one can take in!
This is such a cool idea for a game, you cant move, so you are basically f'ed when anything comes near you, got to say, it made me a little uncomfortable, but very well done!
